About the Club

Our club was founded in 1976 with a small number of boats moored in Walton Marina, close to Walton Bridge.  We have never had a club house of our own, believing that as a boat club we should be out on the river at weekends, so our once monthly evening meetings have been held in a number of different venues - the Black Swan Sea Cadet headquarters, the Vandals Rugby club on Desborough Island and now at the Royal Naval Association in Hanworth.

We have about thirty boats in the club, the largest number being moored in Shepperton Marina, others in Penton Hook Marina and various locations up and down the Thames and the River Wey.  We also have a small contingent of members down on the salt water at Southampton, with one boat in the south of France.

During the boating season we have something organised every other weekend, the main up river event being the August Bank Holiday cruise to Cookham.  We also have a number of cruises down river, either to St. Katherine's Marina by Tower Bridge, Limehouse or South Dock Marinas.  We also cruise to the Medway and small groups have been to France and Holland.

On the social side, we have a Commissioning Supper at the beginning of the season, a Laying up Supper at the end and a Dinner Dance in January.  On club cruises we often barbecue on the Saturday evening or on occasions we eat at a local pub/restaurant.

Over the years the size of some of the boats in the Club has increased, so that we have a nice mix now of boats of all sizes from under twenty feet to over forty feet.
